We Always Win Because of Jesus!

I recently read Joseph Prince blog post, Let Jesus Save You, reflects a powerful truth rooted deeply in scripture: that no matter how hard we toil, how frustrated we become, or how distant success may seem, Jesus is always there to carry us through. Many of us, in our moments of despair, whether in our work, marriages, or families, begin to rely on our own limited strength and understanding. But scripture reminds us time and again that it is not by our own might that we overcome, but through Jesus.

In Luke 5:4-5, we find Peter, a skilled fisherman, exhausted after a long night of catching nothing. But when Jesus told him to “let down the nets,” despite his doubts ( it’s so easy to doubt ourselves), Peter obeyed. But note here—Peter only half-believed. Jesus told him to let down nets (plural), but Peter, worn and weary, let down just one net. Yet, even in Peter’s partial obedience, the power of Christ manifested, and the catch was so overwhelming that the net began to break.

This is a lesson for us all, isn’t it? How often do we, in our fatigue, resist fully trusting Jesus, even when He calls us to try again? Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” It’s not about what we know, or how skilled we think we are—it’s about surrendering to the One who knows the end from the beginning.

And herein lies the heart of the message: it’s not your strength, your intellect, or your abilities that bring you the victory. It’s Jesus. You see, my friend, the biggest financial secret I found in 30 years is success relies on one truth and it is our faith in Jesus. When we step aside from our ego and our desperation to control everything, we allow the transformative power of Christ to do what only He can do. Psalm 46:1 declares, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Notice the word “present.” Jesus is not distant; He’s with you right now, fully engaged in your struggles and prepared to help you rise above them.

For so many of us, the toil extends beyond our work. It seeps into our spiritual lives, as we try relentlessly to earn God’s approval, pushing ourselves harder to be “good enough.” But Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Beloved, God’s love is not earned through labor. It is freely given. We don’t need to prove ourselves to Him.

Too many of us are trapped in the same kind of spiritual frustration as Peter—trying everything we know, only to feel like we’re coming up short. But let me say this clearly: God loves you with all your imperfections, flaws, and struggles. Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Don’t wait to clean up your life before coming to Jesus. Joseph Prince says who tries to clean himself before taking a bath. Jesus is the bath! Come as you are. Jesus is not waiting for a perfect version of you—He is the One who perfects you. Come to Him broken, weary, and wounded, and let Him do what only He can—restore you to wholeness.

In the words of another one of my favorite people to listen to my dear Christian brother Dr. Cornel West, “Justice is what love looks like in public.” Well, grace is what Jesus looks like in your private life. His grace doesn’t just cover your failures—it transforms you. When you feel like you can’t go on, when you’ve tried everything and nothing is working, it’s time to let go of the need to be the savior of your own story.

Let me be clear: you are not required to carry the weight of your burdens alone. The victory has already been won, but not because of what you’ve done. It’s because of what Jesus did for you on the cross. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). You win because He has already won.

So, stop relying on your limited understanding, your exhausted efforts, and your worn-out solutions. Lean into Jesus, and ask from a position of victory. Ask not as a beggar, but as a child of God who knows that through the Authority Christ, we win every time. Not by our own power, but by the grace of God, and the finished work of Jesus. “For the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15).

It’s time to stop fighting for victory and start fighting from victory. Because in Jesus, it’s already done and won!
