God’s Love and Favor is My Reality
Sep 27, 2024What you perceive is what you receive; therefore perception is reality.
In a world where sin-consciousness is pushed on us every single day, from the sensationalism of the news to the mechanisms of government, it’s no wonder many of us feel weighed down. We live in a system that thrives on fear, anxiety, and guilt, constantly reminding us of our frailty, our moral failings, and our inadequacies. But let us pause and take a deeper look, as Joseph Prince so eloquently articulates in 100 Days of Favor: God’s grace, revealed through Jesus Christ, offers us a revolutionary way to live. This is not a life bogged down by guilt or shame, but one empowered by a loving God's radical, unmerited favor.
Sin-Consciousness in a Broken System
We live in an empire—a system of domination—where sin-consciousness is weaponized. The media bombards us with images of violence, corruption, and destruction. Governments too often capitalize on this, building fear-driven policies that make us believe we are constantly falling short. The relentless machine of capitalism, exploitation, and social decay feeds off of human brokenness, and it keeps many locked in cycles of guilt, fear, and alienation.
But in 100 Days of Favor, Joseph Prince reminds us of a powerful truth: God’s grace is not dependent on the systems of this world. It operates on a different plane altogether. While the world seeks to make us hyper-aware of our failings, God offers a deeper consciousness—a Christ-consciousness. As Romans 8:1 so boldly declares, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Let us understand that this is not just a message of hope; it’s a call to liberation. The world’s sin-consciousness is about control, but God’s grace is about freedom.
The Radical Nature of God’s Unmerited Favor
God’s favor isn’t earned; it isn’t something we achieve through good behavior, moral superiority, or financial success. No, God’s favor is unmerited, which is profoundly subversive to the meritocratic values of our world. The system tells us we must work harder, do better, and perform endlessly to achieve any kind of worth. But Ephesians 2:8-9 speaks with revolutionary clarity: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Here we see a radically egalitarian truth: God’s love is available to all, without the need for performance or perfection. This is a grace that humbles the proud and lifts up the broken. Joseph Prince calls us to live in this truth, to make the conscious decision each day to center our lives not on our efforts, but on God’s boundless love. It is here that we find freedom. It is here that we reject the oppressive weight of the world’s sin-consciousness and embrace the liberating power of God’s unmerited favor.
A Revolutionary Consciousness
But we cannot stop there. To live in God’s grace is a conscious revolution of the spirit. Romans 12:2 urges us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” What does this mean in a world that constantly reinforces brokenness? It means that we must intentionally shift our focus from the external chaos and injustice, and instead root ourselves in the radical love of Christ.
This is not to ignore sin or suffering, but to recognize that through Jesus, sin has already been dealt with. Hebrews 10:17 tells us that God no longer remembers our sins. What a revolutionary proclamation! We are free from the chains of guilt and condemnation, and in this freedom, we find the power to resist the structures of domination that seek to hold us captive.
Living in God’s unmerited favor means more than just personal peace; it’s a call to resist the narrative of sin-consciousness that the world imposes on us. It is a call to live boldly, with the confidence that comes from knowing God’s love is greater than any system, any government, and any media-driven attempt to diminish our humanity.
Embracing the Love That Liberates
We are living in turbulent times—times where the world, in all its madness, would have us believe that we are nothing but the sum of our failures. But God offers a different story, a better story. Joseph Prince’s 100 Days of Favor invites us to embrace this narrative, a narrative not of condemnation but of grace, not of sin-consciousness but of Christ-consciousness.
As we confront the systems of power that profit from our sin-consciousness, let us remember the profound words of Romans 5:17: “For if by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!” God’s grace is an invitation to reign in life—to live in the fullness of love, power, and dignity that the world cannot give and cannot take away.
So, let us live with a revolutionary consciousness, one rooted in God’s love and unmerited favor. In doing so, we reject the sin-consciousness of the world and boldly walk in the freedom that only Jesus Christ can provide.
